Summer Pierre – The Artist in the Office.

The Artist in the Office:  How to Creatively Survive and Thrive Seven Days a Week – Summer Pierre (2010, Penguin Group, New York)

This wonderfully illustrated book is chock full of ideas for creative types who have to keep their maybe-not-so creative day jobs, but don’t want to give up their art.  The point Pierre tries to make throughout is to actively live your creative life ALL THE TIME, not just in your free time (or – shudder – postponing it until your retirement).   From baking squares for your co-workers to plotting a novel on your lunch break to encouraging spontaneous dance while you’re waiting for the photocopier to do its thing, there’s bound to be something here that you can try (although I don’t know about that dancing – I think my co-workers would think I was crazy).
