The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon – Stephen King (1999, Scribner, New York)

King wrote this short novel way back in 1999 and despite much urging from family members who had read it ages ago, I hadn’t gotten around to it until now.  Well, count me in with the enthusiastic recommendations – this brilliantly-told story of a little girl lost in the woods, sustained only by her adoration of a certain baseball player, a closer for the Boston Red Sox named Tom Gordon, is one of King’s absolute finest, hands down.
