Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – Ransom Riggs (2011, Quirk Books, Philadelphia)
I’m probably the last person who has read this book, so you’ve likely heard this all before, but really, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a masterpiece of fantasy. I was sucked in from the first paragraph and barely breathed until I finished the last. Weird old photos of even weirder kids and the puzzling death of his beloved grandfather lead American teenager Jacob to an isolated Welsh island…and then things just get even crazier and more interesting.
If I’m not actually the only person in the world who hasn’t read this book yet, don’t be that one. Get your hands on a copy, pronto. The sequel, Hollow City, just came out this month!
